LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Although our staff call many places home, Theatre of the Beat is based in Toronto on Treaty 13 - land promised to the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, Wendat, & Neutral peoples. As a touring organization, we are grateful for the opportunity to gather, work, & create across Turtle Island. However, we recognize that our access to this land is a privilege granted to Settlers largely due to the displacement & genocide enacted against Indigenous Peoples under colonialization.

Wherever we perform, we try to be intentional about honouring the original caretakers & on-going stewards of this land, while wrestling with the ongoing implications of colonial violence. Since theatre is a form of oral story-telling - long-practiced within First Nation communities, we hope our work honours this tradition.

The Intersex-Inclusive Pride flag was created by activist Valentino Vecchietti (she/they) in 2021
