DIY MENDING & UPCYCLING WORKSHOP
New pre-show experience for Invisible Threads Tour
Brings Your Worn out Threads
to Invisible Threads
Typically when Theatre of the Beat hits the road we bring along a new, custom theatre workshop that corresponds to the themes of the play. This year we’re trying something different.
Since Invisible Threads explores themes related to “fast fashion,” sweatshops, and forced labour, we thought we’d focus on teaching some practical mending and up-cycling skills instead.
Before each show (or as its own event in some cases), Theatre of the Beat will be hosting an hour-long drop-in with various opportunities:
Try your hand at mending and patching
Create your own custom TOTB Merch with linograph printing
Clothing swaps
It’s our hope that these community events will create multi-generational opportunities to glean from one another, connect with friends - new and old, while also saving a few more items from the landfill.
If you have mending experience, and would feel comfortable sharing your skills with the community, reach out to Johnny@theatreofthebeat.ca at the link below.
